Yay! Photo Shoot!
Monday, February 13, 2012 03:54 AM
A few weeks ago I got a facebook message from the lovely Jill Coffman of Judith Lauren Designs inviting me to participate in a photo shoot for her Spring 2012 collection, Matrimonio.  How fun is that!?!  I, of course, said yes and then it hit me that we were shooting 11 days before Valentine's day...not an awesome time to come up with flowers on the fly.  And yet, I love them!

And I think they are perfect with Jill's beautiful creations.  Feast your eyes...

Cheers to a Happy & Healthy New Year (with lots of engagements)!

Wedding in the Clouds
Thursday, September 22, 2011 10:26 PM
Last weekend I had the pleasure of working on a wedding that was completely different than anything I have ever done and it was so much fun!  My client wanted stephanotis, baby's breath, pearls, and a cascading bouquet like Princess Diana.  My goal was modern Princess Diana and it worked out beautifully!

As some of you know, I've been raving about my newfound love of baby's breath on facebook all week.  If I had been able to carry the baby's breath theme through the wedding, I would have started with a baby's breath monogram on the doors of the church.

I would add baby's breath going up to the altar.

I would have the wedding party decked out in stephanotis and baby's breath with the bridesmaid's bouquet as a round version of the bride's bouquet.

For the reception I would have done tall arrangements of baby's breath with stephanotis chains.

Or just baby's breath and silver candleabras.

I could go on and on forever!

Flowers at Home: Everything but the Kitchen Sink
Monday, September 12, 2011 02:12 PM

Like any girl, I love getting flowers, but I really love arranging flowers.  I love the thrill of picking out a favorite vase, prepping my flowers, and putting them together in an way that makes me happy.  My husband knows this and he gifts me flowers accordingly!  The other day I came home to a huge bunch of flowers full of everything but the kitchen sink!

My husband took a huge  zig-zag vase I found at Homegoods a couple of months ago and had the girl at the flower shop fill the vase, but not arrange the flowers!

And ta-da!

The colors weird me out a bit, but you can't say it's not fun!

Save the Date, Start the Fun
Tuesday, September 06, 2011 03:45 AM

With photo booth apps for most cell phones readily available, this save-the-date would be so easy to make and so much fun for your guests to receive on their phones!  You get the phone, I'll bring the chalkboard.

Wedding Recap: Amanda & John Part I
Monday, August 29, 2011 12:00 AM

Happy Birthday Amanda!!!!!

This wedding is very near and dear to my heart.  Not only was this my first wedding and my first weddng flowers, but Amanda is my best friend.

John and Amanda met in law school.  John was in the class ahead of Amanda, but enployment opportunities brought them both to Chattanooga around the same time.  From the moment I met them, there was no doubt in my mind that they would end up together.  They were a little slow in getting there, but once there, they were full steam ahead!
John and Amanda were planning a lavish affair for late in the year, but ended up moving up their wedding by several months.  Amanda's dress wasn't going to be ready in time for the earlier date, so she purchased a lovely J.Crew gown as a stand-in.  On the eve of the wedding Amanda received a very special package at her door...John had contacted the dress company and was able to get THE dress to her after all!  And it was perfect!
What's In, What's Out: Floral Edition
Wednesday, August 24, 2011 03:12 AM

Curly willow branches are pretty common these days in tall arrangements and to a lesser extent, bouquets.

According to the esteemed publication, People Style Watch (September 2011), Curly willow branches are out.  I think curly willow branches are a great way to add height and/or a bit of a natural element to your decor, but not necessarily a current trend.  On the other hand, there is a time and a place for every twigg & flower and in my opinion, now is the time for succulents!

These little guys are from the wedding of Yes, Please blogger, Kelly, and I love them!  I think they would be great grouped at varrying heights for a centerpiece with warm wood toned table numbers.

Head on over to Yes, Please for Kelly's post, DIY succulent centerpieces & favors for a quick lesson and more succulent love!

I love the modern feel of these littel guys and the contrast with the pebbles (also great for drainage).

Oh, sunshine & happiness!  How I love bright yellow Billy Balls and how they pop against their succulent friends!

Anf for those of you with a more classical or modern sensibility, succulents are lovely as an accent piece in a stunning bouquet.

With any luck, succulents are here to stay, as is our trusty friend, curly willow.

Flowers at Home: Pitcher Perfect
Friday, June 10, 2011 03:40 AM

Do you ever wonder what flowers a florist takes home?  Wednesday, after spending a day downtown with my husband and his office folks, I raided the cooler at The Daily Flower, putting together a sweet little bouquet.

Wedding Recap: Sarah & Scott Part I
Thursday, March 24, 2011 02:56 AM

I threw a new years party a few years ago, nothing big, just a few friends.  Two of those friends hadn't been dating long, but they were clearly smitten.  When the clock struck midnight the smitten pair shared a kiss to starting the new year together.

Fast forward 12 months to new years eve, my house, and a secret engagement party.   When the clock struck midnight the smitten pair shared a kiss and he got down on one knree and proposed starting the rest of their lives together.  She said yes.

Five and a half months later on a beautiful day in May the smitten pair were wed in the backyard of their new home.

Wedding Recap: Rachel & Adam
Saturday, March 19, 2011 03:33 AM
I had so much fun planning this wedding with Rachel and Adam from the very beginning.  Rachel and Adam are a really focused and hard working pair, but when they let loose, they really know how to have a good time!  Rachel wanted the wedding to be elegant and timeless and the reception to be an unforgettable party .  I think we did a pretty great job!
Thanks to Rich Smith Photography for these great pictures!

Beautiful Evening

Wang for the Masses
Sunday, March 06, 2011 06:12 PM

Let me start by saying I love that Vera Wang has a new line of dresses that is attainable for the average bride.  The dresses are priced from $600-$1400 and the accessories, ahhh the accessories, are priced from $58-$248.  I like the accessories a lot, though as a girl who handcrafts reasonable veils, I hate to see anyone spend $248 on a veil.

Thanks Grandma...
